STARJOURN STAR SYSTEM
The Starjourn deck has 21 extraterrestrial locations each with their own unique ecosystem and ways in which the traveler can collect resources such as rare minerals, exotic foods and delicacies, relics and other valued materials that will sell back at their home space port to sustain their livelihood out amongst the unknown stars.
THE EXPLORER
A lone traveler of the stars working as a cosmic courier transporting all kinds of exotic resources across a new and uncertain solar system.
* The Explorer’s ship is equipped with a special hyperdrive that can gain exceptional power under the right fuel conditions.
HAWKING SPACE PORT
+0: No resources can be gained here, instead it is Homebase for this region of space, the starting point of ventures into the new worlds.
-1: It will cost a minimal fee to dock one’s ship here if they happen to take a bit longer than expected to get out of port.
NEW TERRA
+2: Gain some basic resources from the Terrans that have colonized this Earth like world.
-1: Like most colony outposts, if you overstay your welcome, you’ll need to trade in some of your wares to dock your ship.
GEIST
+2: This eerie world is cloaked in an asteroid field, harvest some of the odd minerals present to sell for a fair return.
-5: Beware not to get caught without enough fuel to make it past the shifting asteroids in orbit; less you join the supposed spirits that haunt the planetoid Geist.
TWILIGHT CITY
+1: The Twilight City exists on the thin band that is draped in constant dusk of a planet that is locked with one side facing its star. Trying to profit from this cutthroat world is a challenge.
-3: Getting stuck from an unexpected solar flare or other inconvenience will certain cost some of your more valued resources.
DUST
+0: This is a barren world akin to Mars of the Sol System, aptly named, it has constant swirling dust storms and little more than that.
-1: At the very least, there is an established colony outpost on the surface, should a traveler get stranded it shouldn’t cost them too much.
ASTEROID FIELD
+3: Asteroids are always a good place to find mineral resources that can always sell well back at the space station.
-2: Of course, mining the asteroids isn’t without hazards, sometimes others have “staked their claim”.
PARADISE
+3: A destination known to species from the star systems far and wide, it truly is a paradise with legendary mineral water with mystical properties, it’s a center of commerce to exchange valued resources.
-4: Inexperience travelers should be cautious not to get caught up in the place, fees for an extended stay will cripple your journey.
IRIS ALPHA
+0: Most people coming here would only be delivering resources, Iris Alpha is a space station that monitors an ultra dense Gas Giant Iris.
-4: If you unfortunately dock with the scientist’s station, they will undoubtedly demand some form of compensation for your “interruption”.
DANTE
+2: A volcanic hellscape covered in magma fissures, there’s a small station that harvests the heat for energy cells, they sell decently back at port, but the trade can sometimes become heated.
-1: It doesn’t cost much to tether onto one of the three small moons in orbit, just don’t get caught.
VIRGIL
+2: An opposite twin to Dante, this world would be hell frozen over; however, its ice has a mineralized water coveted in the cosmic cantinas across the system.
-1: Just like Dante, Virgil has three desolate moons that one can spend a night tethered to.
HERCULES
+1: Hercules is a small binary world system; most value is lost in traveling between the planetoid and small moon chasing down supposed “relics”.
-1: Travelers are welcome, their hosts hoping to make money off their stay.
DRASIL
+1: Drasil is a lush planet with amazing alien flora and fauna, but it is holy to the locals, and they don’t take kindly to outsiders.
-3: Missing your exit window will most definitely irritate the locals and they’ll make their dissatisfaction known.
ASTEROID BELT
+2: Harvest the resources from the bounty of asteroids in this thick field of metal rich rocks that was once a world.
-3: Just don’t get caught off guard and bump into any especially sharp asteroids.
SHIKARI
+2: A dangerous jungle world with a small moon that is very Earth like, the main planet has ferocious alien fauna that is hunted for sport.
-3: Pray that you don’t ever get stranded on the surface of Shikari, the creatures there will expend all your efforts.
THRASOS
+2: A large binary planet system with even smaller satellite planetoids floating farther out in orbit, there’s several outposts scattered about where a traveler can make fair trades.
-2: An equally fair fee is expected should a traveler need to extend their stay.
SHIP GRAVEYARD
+3: Find some valuable scrap components to starships in this extraterrestrial junkyard.
-2: Watch out for pirates that routinely monitor the graveyard for unprepared scavengers.
ASTERIA
+3: Asteria is a fabled world rich in relics, minerals, and agricultural bounties, the only challenged is getting past the turbulent rings that surround the planet.
-5: If you make the mistake of not having enough fuel to make the escape from Asteria’s tumultuous orbit you’ll hemorrhage resources in the effort.
VALHALLA
+3: An ancient world covered in glaciers like giant icy shields, they cover ruins that hold valuable relics from a war long ago.
-3: Some locals are remnants of the ancient tribes and still protect the ruins of this warrior’s world.
BLACK HOLE STYX
+1: If you’re lucky, you can maybe record some data as you slingshot past, and then maybe sell it to the right scientist.
-5: A failed attempt at passing by this behemoth will quickly drain all your resources.
FREYA
+0: Freya is a station built into a large asteroid cluster floating at the far edge of the system, it offers nothing to gain and acts solely as a space gas station.
-1: They charge a standard fee to pull your ship into the hanger and make sure it’s ready for the journey back home.
ANUBIS
+0: This monstrous asteroid is a celestial hazard, it’s far too radioactive to harvest anything from and hopefully never makes impact with any passing vessels.
-3: The radiation damage incurred from being in orbit of this horrid rock any longer than necessary will surely drain mineral reserves.
EXTRATERRESTRIAL EVENTS
From meteor showers, to minefields, alien encounters, and even mysterious wormholes the traveling astronaut faces a myriad of challenging extraterrestrial encounters that will truly test their mettle out alone amongst the stars.
