VOYAGER GAME MODE

This special variant on the basic Starjourn ruleset aims to give the deck a more linear story like journey. To play this game mode set up the play area like a standard game; set aside player card, place starting location, separate and shuffle the event deck and location deck. The main change comes in the way the player draws locations and plays their hand.

For a randomized Voyager game: draw three locations from the shuffled deck, choose one that will be placed, one that will be held in the player’s hand and then the remaining card is permanently discarded. Next turn the player draws three cards again and must choose a card to place and move to, at turn’s end from here on the player must have only 3 cards in hand, the remaining cards must be permanently discarded. The player must be much more strategic with their choice on what locations to play and when in this alternate game mode.

For an even more story like version of this game mode, follow the path set out below: Draw the 3 locations listed at each turn start, play with the Voyager rules of discarding one card each turn and keeping one on hand. Play cards carefully as you won’t have many to choose from on the return path. Return with 20 Resource Points.

The lone explorer embarks on their mission across space… they depart Hawking Space Port in search of riches and relics from a fabled world at the far side of the star system called Asteria.

*The player must move to Asteria during gameplay.

NEW TERRA - GEIST - TWILIGHT CITY

Heading out are the inner system worlds, one welcomes Terrans, another not so much… and the third is the stuff of tall tales and myths.


TURN 2

DUST - ASTEROID FIELD - PARADISE

Scanners pick up an asteroid field that would be great for resources, also the bustling Paradise planet could be rather enticing.


TURN 3

IRIS ALPHA - DANTE - VIRGIL

A choice between two desolate extremes or a science station that doesn’t love visitors.


TURN 4

HERCULES - DRASIL - ASTEROID BELT

At this point, if you don’t have a decent stock of resources it might be a good idea to scour the asteroid belt for something to have in the cargo hold.


TURN 5

SHIKARI - THRASOS - SHIP GRAVEYARD

All three of these locations have their hostilities, best to trust your gut on this one.


TURN 6

ASTERIA - VALHALLA - BLACK HOLE STYX

Finally, the legendary Asteria. Now to gamble with a slingshot around the black hole?


TURN 7

FREYA - ANUBIS

A distant outpost and monstrous asteroid are the last places at the edge of this star system, now to plot a return vector and bring back a full cargo.
